Please join us for Printed Matter’s 2021 Virtual Art Book Fair next weekend!
We’re presenting two events—a workshop with Emmy Bright on interpretation, and a conversation with Danny Licht, Maria Habib and Gracy Obuchowicz that may veer into a cooking demonstration, co-hosted with our friends at Thick Press. We’d love to see you there!
February 26, 5:00-6:00 pm EST
RSVP for the event on CROWDCAST
Free
Join Gracy Obuchowicz and Maria Habib (author and designer of selfcarefully) and Danny Licht (author of Cooking as Though You Might Cook Again, 3 Hole Press) for conversation, cooking, and storytelling. Learn how to make three beloved dishes (sweet potato! moudardara! rice and beans!). Share stories about cooking as comfort, cooking as care, and cooking as something to do each and every day, without perfectionism. (That doesn't mean there's no place for fancy cooking!) Wonder with others what cooking for yourself can teach you about your interconnected self.
Saturday, February 27th, 3:00-4:30
RSVP for the event on ZOOM (capacity is limited, so RSVP soon!)
Free
Please join artist Emmy Bright for a workshop on reading images for ourselves and others, and, as Emmy writes, using your intuition to “upend normative good sense in order to find something more complex, gnarly, and real.”
Drawing from her recently published book and accompanying deck of images, MORE STUPIDS, Emmy will discuss how she came to her own tarot-esque genre, and how you can use the deck - or any deck - to create your own spreads for readings. Following a brief demonstration of how we can read images, cards, meaning and each other, Emmy will guide participants in small groups to practice reading cards for one another. The workshop encourages play, intimacy, and failure.
For our workshop, Emmy will supply digital versions of her cards for you to randomly “pull.” If you would like to work with a physical copy of the deck (not required), you can order your copy of MORE STUPIDS in advance of the workshop via 3 Hole Press's bookshop or your local bookstore.
It’s funny, we put together our virtual booth for the fair to highlight our two newest titles, Danny Licht’s Cooking As Though You Might Cook Again and Emmy Bright’s MORE STUPIDS, and then, suddenly, we completely sold out of Danny’s book! And are down to our last 100 copies of Emmy’s limited edition book and deck. We love seeing how these books have been adopted into your routines and curriculums and have been gifted to loved ones. To order from our next print run of Cooking, please email us at 3holepress@gmail.com with the subject line WAITING FOR COOKING. (And a nudge to get a copy of Emmy’s book while you can!).
Sending peace,
3 Hole
