Dear Friends,
We hope spring is helping your lives open up a little. We’ve been so happy to get to see each other in sunshine recently.
We’re writing with two opportunities and two deadlines. You’ve heard about our open call (26 more days to send us your best work! Or to create it!). We’d also like to tell you about our fellowship program!
After great experiences with the wonderful Olivia Kan-Sperling, 3 Hole’s first fellow (and now our digital editor) and Mariana Roa Oliva, our amazing current fellow, we’ve decided to formally codify our fellowship opportunities into something less haphazard!
We are offering a six-month fellowship program, currently remote (with opportunities to safely meet during warm weather if fellows are located in the NYC area). Applicants in any location are welcome—we’ve learned a lot about virtual connection lately.
Fellows receive a stipend of $1,000, and are expected to work approximately 3-5 hours per week, including attendance at our informal weekly staff meetings, usually on Friday afternoons.
Fellows help with the day-to-day of running a small press, and also take on their own special projects based on their experience and interests.
To be considered for Summer & Fall 2021, please write to our publisher, Mary Marge at mml@3holepress.org. Please include a short cover letter, a resume/CV, and a work sample. The work sample (writing/website/art project/zine/short film/etc.) does not need to be published or finished—we’d prefer it just be something that gives us a feel for who you are, and reflects your interests.
3 Hole is driven by belief in our artists and in independent publishing, and a spirit of mutual support. Our fellowship program seeks to expand our interest in peer education and mentorship. We are excited to discover how we can learn from each other.
Application materials are due by May 15th, and the Summer/Fall cycle will begin in July.
We hope you’ll consider joining us on the strange adventure that is indie publishing!
Love,
3HP
3 Hole Press is a home for performance in book form and everyday life. We publish titles that expand our notions of plays, scripts, and scores, how we engage with them, and how we distribute them. We view publishing as a step towards making contemporary performance more accessible, and celebrate performance created for a reader.
In order to keep our titles accessible and events free, we operate through a non-profit model. Our publications are printed through the support of the Literary Arts Emergency Fund, the New York State Council for the Arts, the Brooklyn Arts Council and contributions from readers.
